Aaron brown
Principal
Aaron Brown spent most of his professional career as a lawyer, investment banker and private equity professional based in London. Aaron started his professional career in 1993 as an attorney at Shearman & Sterling in New York. From 1996 to 2002, he was an investment banker at Salomon Brothers and Merrill Lynch in New York and London, where he specialized in Mergers & Acquisitions.
Aaron spent nine years in real estate private equity making a broad range of real estate backed investments, including in the pub, supermarket, restaurant, clothing retail and cinemas sectors. In addition to HayMax Capital, Aaron is currently a Director and major shareholder in Red Oak Taverns, a privately-held pub company that owns a portfolio of 160 tenanted pubs, small inns and residential developments across the United Kingdom.
Aaron graduated with a J.D. summa cum laude from American University Washington College of Law and with a B.A. from the University of Vermont.
Aaron lives and works in Westchester County, New York with his wife and three boys.
michael brown
Principal
Michael Brown co-founded HayMax Capital, LLC in 2005 as the real estate investment vehicle for Aaron and Michael Brown. Over the past decade, HayMax has acquired and managed hotels, developed luxury residences, acquired notes secured by real estate, and secured development entitlements for to-be-built multi-use hotel/residential projects.
Michael oversees HayMax Hotels, HayMax’s hotel management subsidiary. HayMax Hotels has approximately 75 employees and manages the company-owned hotels. HayMax has an exceptional track record of managing hotels through economic cycles.
Michael resides in Aspen with his wife and daughter. He formerly held a board position on the City of Aspen Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Brown graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.
harris berlinsky
Managing Director, Acquisitions & Development
Harris Berlinsky joined HayMax Capital in 2018.
Prior to joining HayMax Capital, Harris was Vice President of LEM Capital, a private equity real estate firm based in Philadelphia. At LEM, Harris managed the Firm’s portfolio of investments, which totaled more than 50 assets and had an aggregate value of more than $2 billion.
Harris began his career as an analyst at TD Bank in the Commercial and Industrial Lending Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University.
Harris lives in Aspen, Colorado with his wife.
JOSH GAUBE
Managing Director, Construction & Development
Josh Gaube joined the HayMax Capital team in 2019.
Before joining HayMax Capital, Josh worked for Holland Partner Group, a national multi-family residential developer as a Project Manager for the company's in-house construction division. Josh was involved in the development and construction of approximately 1,000 multi-family units with a focus on urban infill within the Denver Union Station neighborhood.
Josh began his career working for general contractors focusing on hospitality, commercial and condominium projects in various roles - estimating, project management and field supervision. He holds a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University.
Josh resides with his wife Amanda in Basalt, Colorado.
Ryan Sutton
Development Project Manager
Ryan Sutton joined the HayMax Capital team in 2022.
Before joining HayMax Capital Ryan worked as an in-house Architect and Project Manager with a construction firm in Chicago and Aspen with a focus on development of high-end commercial, hospitality, and residential. Ryan managed design, construction, and ownership teams to ensure proper coordination while providing on-site management for quality control and efficient execution.
Ryan started his career as a Project Architect providing all phases of architectural services within the city of Chicago for new construction and renovations that included hospitality, mixed-use developments, and single-family homes. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is a Licensed Architect in the states of Illinois and Colorado.
Ryan lives with his wife and daughter in Carbondale, Colorado.
